ERMI SERVERPAC INSTALLATION

  • You select the level of Z/OS implementation that is right for your business.
  • Basic IPLable system ready for customization.
  • A test system ready for the introduction of your ISV program products and their customization.
  • A production Z/OS system.
  • Positions you to exploit the Z/OS architecture and Parallel Sysplex environment.
  • You may qualify for Parallel Sysplex Licensing Charge.
  • Documentation for your systems and operations staff.
  • Supplementation of your in-house resources in the technical, planning, and management areas.

 

 

A TYPICAL INSTALL MIGHT INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING

PHASE 1
Perform a complete software inventory.
IBM and ISV subsystems and program products to include usermods and exits, etc.
Determine the system architecture.
Hardware, Catalog structure, JES2, NetWork,
Data Set naming standards, Method of I/O subsystem definition, security system, etc.
Driver system requirements.
Software levels, DASD requirements, security, availability, etc.
Desired changes. software, system architecture, etc.

Phase 1 deliverables:
Documentation.
Current software inventory.
Purposed software inventory.
Purposed system architecture.
Toleration maintenance required.
DASD requirement for installation.
Installation plan.
Preliminary overall purposed project plan.

Phase 1 effort:
1-2 weeks and requires some local input.

PHASE 2
Order The ServerPac(s).
We will work with your staff to select the required and optional software services.
Work with IBM to configure your order your
Customized ServerPac.
Configuration details for the implementation project plan.

Phase 2 deliverables:
Documentation.
Customized software order.
Implementation project plan.

Phase 2 effort:
1-3 days and requires local participation.

PHASE 3
Install ServerPac(s).
Prepare the driving systems for ServerPac install as necessary.
Install the Z/OS ServerPac from your driving system.
Customize the CustomPac (CPAC) system.
Rework usermods and exits.
Prepare IODF as necessary.
Run IVP's. IPL the CPAC system.
Backup the CPAC system.

Phase 3 deliverables:
Basic System.
An IPLable system utilizing default services, JES2, TSO/ISPF, VTAM, and etc.
An optional second system complete with the supporting SMP/E environment.
Documentation of the CPAC system.
Implementation project plan.

Phase 3 effort:
1-4 weeks depending on the initial condition of the driving system, optional system, and status of I/O subsystem definition.

PHASE 4
Install Database, CICS, NCP ServerPac(s) as desired.
Install ServerPac(s).
Install IBM non-ServerPac software.
Install IVP products (see list of supported products)
Run IVP's
Rework usermods and exits.
Backup the CPAC system.
An optional second set of libraries and SMP/E zones for each ServerPac installed.
Update the implementation project plan.

Phase 4 deliverables:
Verified subsystems.
You now have an IPLable system with all IBM code installed and verified, ready for customization.
Some ISV products installed.
Implementation project plan.

Phase 4 effort:
1-3 weeks depending on the number of products installed.
Implementation project plan.

PHASE 5
Catalog and parmlib customization.
Build the Master catalog that will be used during your customization, and user testing.
This catalog can eventually become the catalog used in the production environment(s).
Build the SYS1.PARMLIB and IPL.PARMLIB members necessary to support Z/OS and new catalog structure.
Finalize the implementation project plan.

Phase 5 deliverables:
Master catalog and parmlibs.
Catalog to be used for testing and production.
Complete documentation of catalog procedures.
Documentation of IPL procedures.
New parmlib member documentation.
Finalized implementation plan.

Phase 5 effort:
1-3 days.

PHASE 6
Support.
